Feedback Regarding Connected Learning

Use the thread below to make daily updates (during the first week for sure) of your work on the MacBook, the SJSD network, and your home network, etc. The feedback you provide throughout the remainder of this first semester will go a long way toward helping your school district best meet your mobile and connected learning needs well into the future. These updates need not be lengthy, nor in a great deal of depth. However, of course, the more detail you are able to provide-  the better we're able to help. And remember, every little thing that helps your workflow, likely also impacts hundreds of other students in a positive way later on this year.

I'm enjoying how liberal the policy is with what we can do with these computers. Able to do most everything except changing account things. As far as bugs there isn't much to report from here. It is annoying that we can't modify the applications folder but just move applications to the desktop and they work fine.

And whenever I start the computer finder brings up the root "MacOS" folder, is that a bug too?

Today, on October 28th, I had issues connecting to specific printers around Central.  They were each specific ones by teachers, and it couldn't find those printers.  I haven't had any issues ever since tuesday, and it's bet running perfectly smooth for me.  Other than the printers, its all been working great.

Oct. 25- I haven't had any problems with my computer all day. The only hitch that I had was that I couldn't figure out how to use dropbox (which I hear is a good way to back up all of my stuff) ,but I'm sure that this is purely my own inadequacy with computers. I made a powerpoint, wrote a paper, got on gmail and google docs multiple times, and did a research assignment for a class which involved reading blogs, watching videos, and listening to podcasts (guess who's wife is the teacher of this class?). I showed multiple people my computer at school today, they were all very impressed with the cool stuff the new computers can do. Honestly though, most people were more impressed with the bag than the computer- in its defense, it is a very cool bag!

I tried to download Evernote app from Appstore.We use this site in my classes to create notes. Having it as an app instead of repeating typing up the address would be helpful,BUT....

As a side note, in firefox/chrome you can pin webpages as app tabs that load when you start up the browser, so you wouldn't have to enter evernote.com into the browser. (you can pin via control-click of the tab)

Sorry I still haven't replied to this yet!! I feel horrible! 
So, we got our computers on Monday...and I've done quite a bit on mine. I've got on Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, I've messed around on Photobucket, Mail, and iCal. I've accessed a lot of websites that I normally visit on my computer at home, like Twitter, Youtube, and Battlelog (which is AWESOME) !!!

The only trouble I've had this far is connecting to printers at Central.

I don't know why you told me to put these pictures on here, but here they are. I haven't used my computer in any new ways, and I haven't had any new problems with it. Any problems I did have, either Mr. Nashtee already took care of, or they were insignificant enough that I don't remember them anymore. One problem that I did have a few days ago was that I couldn't figure out how to get something to print from my computer. Again, this was probably my fault- I'm not overly computer savvy. I ended up emailing it to the teacher, and she printed it for me.

I've found through regular use that the laptop battery drains faster than the one in my first generation iPad, but that should be expected a little.
